EPIX Network’s New Docuseries ‘Punk’ Produced by Michael Grecco, John Varvatos and Iggy Pop

March 8, 2019

For Immediate Release

Hollywood, California / Hollywood premiere of EPIX Network’s new docuseries ‘Punk’ in which Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols and Marky Ramone of the Ramones came within inches of a physical altercation in an expletive-laden argument about who's more punk rock than the other.

Johnny Rotten (stage name), who’s real name is John Joseph Lydon, was born in Holloway, London, England, United Kingdom and is currently 63. Marky Ramone (stage name), who’s real name is Marc Steven Bell, was born in Brooklyn, New York, United States and is currently 66 years old.

While both Rotten and Ramone are both early fixtures in the Punk Rock Movement, Executive Producer of ‘Punk’ Iggy Pop (born James Newell Osterberg Jr.) is a punk rock legend known as the "Godfather of Punk" as designated by many in the punk rock community.

‘Punk’ is a four-part docuseries premiering on EPIX cable network March 11th, from Executive Producers John Varvatos and Iggy Pop. ‘Punk’ features original interviews with America’s punk pioneers and the U.K.’s most notorious bands, alongside a seamless blend of rare and unseen photos, gritty archival film and video and a crackling soundtrack of punk hits and misses. ‘Punk’ explores the music, the fashion, the art and the DIY attitude of a subculture of self-described misfits and outcasts.

“I’ve had a vast project in the works based around ‘unseen’ punk music images from the seventies through the eighties in my archive. I developed this show in collaboration with Epix Network Entertainment and fellow Producers John Varvatos and Iggy Pop. It was an awesome experience working on the ‘Punk’ project with everyone involved,” said Michael Grecco of his partnership on the project.

Grecco will appear in ‘Punk’ Episode #2. His previously unseen punk images are used throughout the four-part punk band documentary. Grecco has a new spin-off project called ‘Days of Punk’ that show his full archive of the punk and post punk movement imagery taken throughout his photography career to date.
